A unique collaboration between The Greatest Soccer Player Of All-Time and 2019 Grammy winners Rodrigo y Gabriela. The video has Brazilian references alongside illustrations of the lyrics and archive footage of Pele in his prime.
In the lyrics, Pelé talks about a “Pai de Santo” a religious leader of an African religion called “Candomblé” which the players of Santos Sport Club used to consult before the games. This leader knew that Santos were a very successful team and used to order expensive things such as Cuban cigars, an African Chicken or a Goat from India from the players. The problem was that every time the team lost, according to the old man, was because the cigar was false. And the refrain of the song talks about that as the Old Man would say “You can trust this Old Man. Tell me what you need. The Old Man has the power to lead your team to win. The money goes to the saint. You can just pay it because the Old Man doesn’t charge anything to work”.
